I hope you’ve managed to extend a little further on your travels recently since social bubbles were formalised!
Are you a retina or eardrum kinda guy?
When I scroll through the photos like this one, of last summer’s book launch cruise, I’m taken straight back to this experience of a lifetime. It is imagery rather than information which usually transports my imagination in this way. I am a visual thinker and experience the world most powerfully through impressions on my retina rather than the eardrum.
However, the trip Phil and I took last year became a rich resource of soundtracks – of dripping walls and flushing sluice gates, ducks chattering, blackbird evensong and gently swishing bulrushes. We returned with an amazing archive of sound effects to enrich the narrative we planned to record of ‘As If’ as an audiobook with my own narration and Phil’s able sound file creation and editing.
Having taken three months (rather than one) to pass Audible processing due to Covid impacts on the editing workforce, at last I can announce its launch. A year on from the paper book launch, now it it time to try ‘As If’ as an audiobook. All those who struggle to settle down with a book and an armchair, it’s your turn to experience ‘As If’, in the garden, at the gym or whilst creating dinner!
As a visual myself, nevertheless, I want to serve all types. I must say I am excited at the intimacy of speaking personally into your listenening ears with this opportunity to emphasise and dramatise with my own voice as the author/narrator. Not to mention the inter-chapter evocative soundtracks of waterway travel and countryside birdlife! It is a powerful medium especially for learners with audio preferences.
I am busy preparing prize-draw giveaways, offers of a free copy for audio-review and there’s an amazing chance for you to grab your free copy here if you happen to be new to Audible.
When you download ‘As If’ as your first download as a first time subscriber, you have a month’s free subscription to decide if you want to continue with Audiobooks. If that’s not your thing, try it anyway, get a free listen and lapse the subscription after 30 days.
No obligation to me or Amazon there. Just use this link to kickstart your Life in Audible.
Lastly, if you’re a Kindle reader already and you want to download this new release on Audible, you get my book for the crazy prize of £3.45 in their scheme called Whispersync. Whispersync allows you to listen or read in alternate sections, always updating either version to wherever you have reached, synchronised in both Kindle and Audible modes at any one time.
Warning – You could get hooked
Reading is suddenly very sophisticated and sociable. You will become increasingly confident, knowledgeable, trendy, connected, conscious, whatever YOU want to be. Only with the insights of others, shaping and forming, correcting and training in this navigation of life’s open stretches and confinements.
And, thanks to subscribers who answered last week’s questions so thoughtfully. I want to answer these on my Facebook author page specifically so look out for that conversation coming next week at my Gill Bentham Author page
